A Weekend with Etta James

Etta James… so many things I can say about this adorable pup! She is sweet, silly, happy, lovable, cuddle bug… an actual angel. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this dog.

For the whole weekend, I got to snuggle, eat snacks, nap, and play with a pup who couldn’t stop smiling and wagging her tail.

Etta James has been through the worst of the worst and still… she has this joy in her heart that she has to spread to those around her. Sweet Etta had her leg amputated and has to hop around with only three legs. She has tumors all over her and is suffering from mass cell cancer. She doesn’t have a lot of time left, and while it breaks my heart and I hate this for her, she still keeps going. She doesn’t dwell on the sad parts of her life, and instead, she gets excited about everything.

Her face when she hears someone in the kitchen

She lives to hear the fridge opening. Her ears go all the way up and she listens so intently, hoping for a snack of any kind. Mom got her chicken nuggets from McDonalds, gave her cheese crackers, and we made her eggs. She had cheese bacon flavored dog ice cream and doggie cookies too. She was eating to her hearts content and nothing less the entire weekend (she also couldn’t stop passing gas lol).

And what’s so adorable… she loves to lay in your arms and be pet endlessly. She requires lots of pampering and I have no problem giving her all the snuggles. If anyone deserves it, it’s Etta James!

Mom and I even got to take her for a car ride to say hi to my grandma and go for a ride in the PetSmart cart around the store and outside in the parking lot, taking in the fresh air. It was one of the best weekends I have had in a long time. I wish I could permanently foster her, but unfortunately, no one in my family is home all day to do so.

Etta needs someone home for the most part to help in case she needs it… especially with moving around. It’s so hard for her hopping around on the three legs with her little body. She is such a trooper though!

I will be taking Etta for many weekends coming up. I plan on giving her as much love as I can and picking her up just about every week for as many days I can be home with her. I want to give her so much attention. She needs and deserves it. I will do everything I can for this sweet, kindhearted animal with the biggest heart.

Thank you Emma and Sedona for sending miss Etta James my way. 🙂

Lake Havasu— A Hidden Gem

I found a new fun place! Ladies and gentleman… I GIVE YOU… LAKE HAVASU!

I never even heard of Lake Havasu, AZ, until just a month ago. I went and visited this hidden gem (in my opinion… a hidden gem), this past weekend. I had so much fun! I saw the London Bridge, walked by the water, took lots of pictures, made friends with a horse, went on a ferry ride and was in California for ten minutes (first time to step foot in Cali), ate good food… a perfect weekend overall! Lake Havasu is a mix of Jersey and California (it feels that way). You got the palm trees, sand, water, cool breeze… just seems like a mix of the two states. I think that’s why I loved it so much!

I even got to hangout with the captains of the boat and sit inside with them (very cool experience).

The London Bridge

If I’m being honest, I like Lake Havasu even more than Sedona and Prescott! It’s a perfect lil town in AZ… one I could see myself living in. I hope to someday!

The pictures don’t even do this town justice. It’s 1,000 times more beautiful in person. I wish I could just go up there every day and hop on a boat. I would be such a happy girl doing that all of the time!

I will have to visit Lake Havasu again and again! It’s a must. I need to enjoy more of the sights there and explore all this beachy, fun town has to offer.

Sometimes, we all need a lil weekend getaway to go out and escape the pressures of work. I needed that, I got it, and now I crave more of Lake Havasu! I will say this… I don’t like how it’s 2 hours and 40 minutes from Buckeye! If it was closer, I really would be there basking in the sun and splish splashing in the water every single day of my life.

Oh whale! We’ll sea… maybe one of these days it’ll become my home! (Appreciate my puns… please and thanks).

If you haven’t gotten a taste of this lovely town, and you live in the desert, I say go explore and see for yourself! Make memories and take in the extra sunshine up there. You will see exactly what I’m talking about once you arrive at this charming, hidden gem of a place!

Hi, It’s Me Again!

What have I been up to lately? Good question! WORKING NON-STOP.

I have been super busy trying to make clients happy, endless scheduling, calling, texting… you name it. I love it though. It sounds like I don’t but I really do. I enjoy crossing off items on my to do list. I like feeling accomplished after I finish my work for the day. I like working in general and feeling good about the time and energy I put into it. It’s nice getting to keep busy!

What else have I been up to? Hmm… trying to find time to get more sleep in. 😉 This is the first weekend I have off Saturday and Sunday, and you know what? I am very, very happy about it! For six months, my schedule has been Monday-Thursday, have off Friday, then work Saturday, then off Sunday. It wasn’t bad, but I think having two days off in a row is AMAZING! Just the idea itself gets me excited.

I want to do something fun almost every weekend (except a few Netflix, stay-in Saturdays) and get to stay active and live life to the fullest.

I thought I’d jot down a few activities to do over the weekend! Maybe you’ll try them like me.

1) Pumpkin picking (it’s fall ya’ll)

2) Explore a couple new coffee shops in one day

3) Go roller skating

4) Visit California (day trip)

5) Visit Vegas (day trip)

6) A big workout at the gym (we’re talking 2 hours or more)

7) Shopping all day

8) Go to the movies

9) Staying up till 2 in the morning (trying to relive my teen years)

10) Have a self-care day with my senior pup!

11) Spend the day writing a short story

12) Clean the house (when else will I have time?)

13 A day at the zoo
